What is Glaxon Arc Immune?

Arc Immune is an immune system supplement designed to help the body vigilantly maintain immune surveillance while supporting the clearance of foreign pathogens.

We’ve combined Agarikon Mushroom with Lactoferrin and a balanced ratio of Zinc and Copper to help keep your immune system functioning at its best.  Finally, Arc Immune also contains a new trademarked blend of E. coli-targeting bacteriophages called,  PreforPro® - which acts as a prebiotic while eliminating bad bacteria from the gut.

Why should you consider this immune booster supplement?

Sometimes you just don’t know what kind of environment you’re really walking into.  Whether it’s travelling abroad or just being somewhere in a large gathering of people, these scenarios can unsuspectingly subject us to potential exposure to foreign pathogens.  Arc Immune seeks to keep your body’s immune system in top condition by addressing potential deficiencies that can compromise immune responses, while further supporting them with ingredients that promote the phagocytic activity of white blood cells and eliminating bad gut bacteria.

Why choose this over other health supplements?

Initially, Arc Immune works by addressing potential deficiencies in Zinc and Copper than could compromise healthy immune responses.  Secondly, the combination of citrus bioflavonoids and lactoferrin work together to bind foreign pathogens in an attempt to directly to suppress their replication. Then Agarikon mushroom is also utilized to provide its own unique activity as well as being a source of beta-glucans that can help facilitate the phagocytic activity of immune cells.  Finally, Arc Immune also employs the use of bacteriophages, small viruses that target specific bacteria while not affecting human cells.  This helps eliminate undesirable bacteria from colonizing in the gut, while their destruction acts as a prebiotic for the beneficial bacteria that constitute the human gut microbiome.

The immune system is quite the hot topic in 2020 – it seems that nearly every supplement company is trying to formulate their own version of an “immune booster”. However, many of them fall short of being any better than a multivitamin. You cannot argue that getting enough micronutrients through diet and supplementation are key to having a properly functioning immune system, however, there are several innovative ingredients on the market that can be added to offer additional benefits in regards to immunity.

Bear with us on this one there is a lot to say...

Glaxon ARC Ingredients

This is one of the first products we’ve seen include the clinically studied dose of PreforPro!

DR caps are starting to gain popularity because they significantly reduce the breakdown of ingredients which can occur in the stomach. DR caps have an acidic resistant coating that prevents stomach acid from affecting the components inside the capsules.

Therefore, once the compounds reach the small intestine, they are better able to carry out their intended effects. Furthermore, DR caps help minimize odour and decrease the unpleasant aftertaste that some ingredients are known to cause.

Here’s what three capsules of Arc Immune contains:

Zinc (Zinc Bisglycinate Chelate as TRAACS™) – 11mg (96% DV)
Before we dive into why zinc is so beneficial for the immune system, let’s first highlight the form Glaxon is using for Arc Immune.

Zinc Bisglycinate: the superior form - It’s well established that various nutrients, vitamins, and minerals are poorly absorbed within the small intestine. In order to solve this issue, a company known as Albion minerals developed TRAACS, which stands for “The Real Amino Acid Chelate System”. This process involves binding, also known as chelating, a mineral that’s poorly absorbed to a molecule that’s readily absorbed.

In this case, zinc is bound to an amino acid called glycine, resulting in significantly improved uptake and bioavailability. TRAACS is also a patented testing method that helps ensure the potency, purity, quality, and safety of the ingredient. Research has shown that zinc bisglycinate chelate is a superior form compared to zinc gluconate and zinc oxide in regards to absorption and bioavailability.

We always want to highlight when companies are using a superior ingredient, because it’s crucial for getting maximum benefits and not wasting your money on supplements that just end up being excreted instead of utilized. You will also see in the next section that Glaxon also uses copper bisglycinate chelate which is the best form available!

Now, let’s get into what zinc will do for your immune system!

Zinc is considered to be an essential mineral, meaning that your body needs a set amount each day to properly function and remain healthy. The body cannot endogenously produce zinc, therefore it must be supplied through the diet and/or supplementation. Foods rich in zinc include whole grains, poultry, seafood, red meat, dairy products, seeds, and beans.

It’s important to note that some foods are known for being a good source of zinc also may contain phytic acid, which significantly alters the absorption of zinc. The biggest culprits are plant-based products, such as bread, cereal, and legumes. Thus, if you ascribe to more of a plant-based diet, supplementing with zinc becomes even more important.

In regards to the immune system, even a moderate zinc deficiency has been shown to notably decrease immune function, reduce testosterone levels, negatively affect lean body mass, and delay wound healing. Consuming an adequate amount of zinc will ensure that key cells of the immune system, including natural killer cells (NK cells), macrophages, and neutrophils are functioning at full capacity.

As we discussed above, these “effector cells” are very important for identifying and taking care of foreign pathogens before they start negatively affecting healthy cells. All of the cells we just listed belong to the innate immune system, meaning they serve as your first line of defence.

Thus, if they are not working effectively and timely, then you’re more likely to get sick.

An inadequate intake of zinc can also negatively affect the adaptive immune system by reducing the proliferation of T-cells and B-cells, which are crucial for producing antibodies to increase overall immunity. Lastly, zinc is known for being a potent antioxidant, meaning that it can protect against oxidative stress-induced by free radicals.

Free radicals are unstable molecules that are highly reactive, they are produced from a wide variety of physiological processes and environmental causes. Free radicals will travel throughout the body looking for healthy cells to latch onto. If they bind to a normal cell, free radicals can cause damage to the DNA, enzymes, and membrane. As the name suggests, antioxidants are crucial for preventing this from occurring and make cells more resilient to outside stressors.

Glaxon is going to make sure you aren’t deficient in zinc by supplying 96% of your daily value from the most bioavailable form on the market.

Copper (Copper Bisglycinate Chelate as TRAACS™) – 1mg (111% DV)
The next ingredient included in Arc Immune is copper, another essential mineral for a healthy immune system!

You already know why Glaxon is using copper bis-glycinate chelate since it’s the highest quality and most bioavailable form in the dietary supplement industry. In this case, copper is bound to glycine, which just like zinc, improves uptake within the small intestine.

Copper is classified as a trace mineral, meaning that you don’t need a very large amount of it to fulfil the body’s daily requirements. As you can see from the label, Arc Immune has just 1mg which supplies 111% of your daily value. One of the key roles copper takes on is serving as a cofactor for several enzymes. A cofactor is a chemical compound or ion that facilitates enzyme’s activities – think of them as the “middleman” for biological processes.

The enzymes in which copper effects are known as cuproenzymes, which are involved in iron metabolism, ATP production, connective tissue growth, neuropeptide stimulation, and neurotransmitter activation. Ceruloplasmin is one of the most abundant cuproenzymes within the body since it carries more than 95% of copper in the plasma.[8] It’s involved in iron metabolism and is one of the reasons why copper helps facilitate the production of haemoglobin and red blood cells.

Beyond helping create more red blood cells to increase oxygen delivery to various tissues, copper has also been shown to play a key role in the immune system. One preliminary study found that supplementing with copper was able to restore T-cell counts in mice with copper deficiency. This finding suggests that an inadequate intake of copper negatively impacts the adaptive immune system.

Another study from 2015 reported that copper deficiency also negatively affects various aspects of the innate immune system, including leukocyte proliferation, differentiation, and maturation, neutrophil and macrophage functioning.

Neutrophils and macrophages are classified as phagocytes, meaning they are able to engulf and destroy harmful pathogens. Furthermore, a potent antioxidant known as superoxide dismutase needs copper to properly function. Again, antioxidants are crucial for fighting against oxidative stress.

Both zinc and copper are critical nutrients for the immune system, so it’s great that Glaxon is providing you with two highly bioavailable forms and adequate dosages for optimal benefits!

The minerals are covered and now it’s time to get into the ingredients that really make Arc Immune stand out!

Agarikon (Laricifomes Officinalis) Mushroom Powder – 500mg
If you’ve seen some of Glaxon’s other products, such as Super Greens and Super Shroom, then you know that the guys are a huge proponent of mushrooms!

Both of those products have a solid blend of seven different mushrooms to deliver a host of health and performance benefits. However, neither of them have the type of mushroom that’s included in Arc Immune! This is one of the reasons why Glaxon states on the label that Arc stacks well with Super Shroom, because with that combo you’re getting a wide array of fungi.

Mushrooms are extremely underrated when it comes to health, wellness, and performance, and supplement companies are fortunately starting to realize their value. Each type of mushroom offers its own unique benefits, which is why Glaxon specifically chose agarikon, also known in the scientific community as Laricifomes officinalis and Fomitopsis officinalis.

There’s a strong collection of evidence that shows agarikon expresses potent antiviral, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties.[ Agarikon is classified as a polyporoid fungus which was historically used medicinally to treat various medical conditions – most notably pulmonary diseases. The benefits associated with agarikon mushrooms are mainly attributed to their high concentration of bioactive molecules and secondary metabolites, including chlorinated coumarins and lanostane-type triterpenoids (LTRs).

Several studies have shown that agarikon has strong antimicrobial properties, however more research is warranted to determine its mechanism of action. Furthermore, agarikon supplies the body with a source of beta-glucans which have been shown to upregulate the activity of immune cells and protect against infection from bacteria, viruses, and harmful microorganisms.

Needless to say, fungi pack a powerful health-boosting punch and Galxon is leading the way by including agarikon in Arc Immune!

Citrus Bioflavonoid Complex – 500mg
These next two ingredients, the Citrus Bioflavonoid Complex and Lactoferrin, each provide their own unique benefits, however, Glaxon included them to work synergistically and bind onto foresight pathogens to prevent replication. We are going to talk about each individually to highlight the differences and benefits of both.

First up is the Citrus Bioflavonoid Complex!

Flavonoids are classified as hydroxylated phenolic molecules naturally produced by plants when they encounter an infectious microbial. Flavonoids are well known for their strong antioxidant effects, however, research also shows that they express antibacterial, hepatoprotective, antiviral, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Flavonoids are able to activate protective enzyme systems within the body and show a positive effect on various medical conditions, such as degenerative diseases, bacterial diseases, viral diseases, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. As of writing this article, there are over 4,000 different types of flavonoids that have been identified and are divided into two primary categories: flavones and flavonols.

Once the flavonoids are ingested, they are primarily absorbed in the small intestine or colon. The flavonoids will then be shuttled into the liver to undergo either metabolism into small particles, methylation, glucuronidation, or sulfation. In regards to antibacterial activity, one of their main mechanisms of action is to form a complex with proteins, resulting in the inactivation of microbial enzymes, adhesins, and cell envelope transport proteins. It’s also reported that specific flavonoids are capable of obstructing microbial membranes.

Furthermore, studies show that specific flavonoids may be able to inhibit the replication and infection of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In summary, bioflavonoids offer a host of health benefits and their efficacy of serving as an antiviral, antimicrobial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective agent is well accepted in the literature.

Lactoferrin (from Milk) – 150mg
Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein derived from milk, therefore it’s important note that Arc Immune does contain a small amount of dairy in case you’re extremely sensitive or allergic. But if you’re not, then this is an ingredient that’s been shown to have potent immunomodulatory effects.

Lactoferrin is considered to be a part of your first line of defence since it’s heavily involved in the protection against various microbial infections and helps reduce systemic inflammation. Research reports that lactoferrin expresses effects directly on pathogens, including bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects.

Bacteriostatic means that lactoferrin is able to stop bacteria from replicating or reproducing, but does not kill them. Whereas bactericidal indicates that it can actually kill and destroy the bacteria.

This is a key component of Arc Immune that makes it so different from any other immune system support supplement. It’s rare to find an ingredient that possesses the potential to stop the growth of bacteria and destroy them. In addition, lactoferrin has powerful antioxidant properties, enhances the maturation of T-cells, and the differentiation of B-cells.

So far we’ve rarely seen lactoferrin in any immune system supplement, but the research is clear that Glaxon is onto something when it comes to boosting overall immune function.

Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) Extract [Std. to 25% Phycocyanin] (Algae Body) – 50mg
Spirulina, also known as Arthrospira platensis, is a blue-green algae which provides several health benefits due to its rich concentration of vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, and essential fatty acids. As you can see from the label, Glaxon not only lists the type of spirulina they are using, but also the standardization of a key component known as phycocyanin. With a 50mg dose, you’re going to be receiving 12.5mg of the primary bioactive constituent.

Phycocyanin is a natural, water-soluble, non-toxic molecule that’s known for having anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. In addition, phycocyanin is extremely beneficial for the immune system. Traditionally, phycocyanin has been used to add natural colouring to various foods since it provides a deep blue colour. Beyond the food industry, research has found that phycocyanin expresses cytoprotective, neuroprotective, and hepatoprotective characteristics.

Studies report that regular consumption of phycocyanin significantly boosts immune system function by stimulating both white blood cell and red blood cells production, suppresses allergic response via the reduction in IgE antibody secretion, increases IgA antibody production, and boosts the activity of natural killer cells and cytotoxic T-cells.

Furthermore, preliminary research reports that phycocyanin downregulates Bcl-2 expression in BC-8 cells, which may help facilitate apoptosis of diseased cells.

Nonetheless, spirulina is a very interesting ingredient and we’re surprised that we don’t see it more often in the health and wellness supplement industry.

Prebiotic Bacteriophages (as PreforPro®) – 15mg
The last ingredient in Arc Immune may very well be the most interesting one because it’s definitely something that we’ve never seen before. PreforPro® is a new trademarked ingredient that consists of prebiotic bacteriophages from Deerland Probiotics and Enzymes. If you’re wondering why a prebiotic is included in an immune system supplement, it’s because the gut plays a critical role in overall health, but especially immunity.

Research shows that drastic alterations in your gut microbiota can lead to immune system dysregulation, and can even cause autoimmune disorders. It’s important to note that your gut is filled with bacteria, but not all of it is bad and the good bacteria is needed for optimal health.

When most people talk about gut health and supplements, two products always come up – prebiotics and probiotics, but what’s the difference?

Probiotics vs Prebiotics
Probiotics are classified as good bacteria that are typically made up of either strain from lactobacillus or bifidobacterium. The main objective of supplementing with a probiotic is to increase the number of good bacteria with the gut. However, prebiotics is also critical for gut health since they provide fuel for the good bacteria to function and grow. Thus, PreforPro® is prebiotic that’s been shown in vitro to accelerate the growth of several probiotics species.

Prebiotics promote probiotic growth!
Clinical trials consisting of 15mg of PreforPro® supplementation found that it had positive effects on the gut’s microbial population, cholesterol levels, and overly immune response. In this study, PreforPro® was able to enhance the number of good bacteria, such as bifidobacterium bifidum and lactobacillus delbrueckii, increase molecules that produce butyrate, known as eubacteria, and reduce allergy-inducing cytokines (IL-4).

What many people don’t know is that supplementing with excessive amounts of probiotics can only take you so far, the probiotics need fuel in order to properly function, therefore there needs to be a balance between prebiotics and probiotics within the gut.

The entire goal of PreforPro® is to increase the number of good bacteria, thus reducing the number of bad bacteria and strengthening the immune system.

Arc Immune is best taken - 3 capsules per day.  These can either be taken in different increments such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner - or 3 capsules at once.  Consistency is key.
