Apple Cider Vinegar - The Health Benefits

Apple Cider Vinegar is quickly becoming the go-to supplement for people looking to optimise their health, with its wide-range of health benefits it's easy to see why so many gym goers are reaching for the bottle. Here are it's main benefits and how they can improve your health.

Organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar as sold here at CSN contains the 'Mother'・ These are strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria. The 'Mother' is known to be responsible for the majority of health benefits of apple cider vinegar, however, there is no exact studies to prove this.

The friendly bacteria can be very useful for protecting the immune system and fight off diseases and infections.

Improve digestion

The healthy bacteria found in organic apple cider vinegar and in particular the gut-friendly bacteria helps to keep your digestive system functioning properly. Apple Cider Vinegar could be beneficial for people with stomach issues like indigestion, heartburn or stomach bloating after eating. Apple Cider Vinegar helps these symptoms through neutralising stomach acid.

Stabilises blood sugar levels

Studies have shown that ACV improves insulin sensitivity during a high-carb meal by 19-34% and significantly lowers blood glucose and insulin response. This leads to a reduced blood sugar spike when eating high carb meals and therefore lower and more stabilised blood sugar levels after eating the meal.

2 tablespoons of ACV before bedtime can reduce fasting blood sugars by 4%

In an interesting study conducted by Arizona State University, it was concluded that vinegar improves insulin sensitivity to a high-carbohydrate meal in subjects with insulin resistance or Type 2 Diabetes. In another successful study, bread and vinegar were given to healthy test participants, they found that the addition of the vinegar reduced the postprandial (the mild decreases in blood sugar levels) response of blood glucose and insulin, and increased the subjective rating of satiety. All of this was in correlation to the acetic acid found in the vinegar, which also has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

With evidence like this, it is hard to argue the effectiveness of adding ACV to your daily routine. It is recommended that you take 1-2tbsp in a glass of water before each meal to trigger the desired responses. There are only 3 calories per tablespoon too so you won't have to worry about it affecting your calorie count too much.

Suppresses appetite

A number of studies show the AVC having an effect on satiety, making you feel fuller during the day. This suppression of appetite can help you avoid unhealthy snacking and overeating at mealtimes if consumed with water before meals (see recommended dose above).

That's not all...If you pick up an organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, like Bragg’s, these also contain “mother,” strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria. All of which have their own health benefits. We have found that after using Bragg's before meals, digestion has also improved and bloatedness relieved.
